Blue Plymouth Rocks?

Has anyone ever crossed a Blue Andalusian roo over Barred Plymouth Rock hens? What was your offspring like? Or does anyone know if I would anticipate 50% blue 50% black? Also… I have sapphire gems and sapphire splashes… what would the offspring be breeding the blue Andalusian to them? Thanks!!

I believe that's were most hatcheries get their blue Plymouth rocks, yes. Or maybe production blues.

Blue Andalusian rooster over Barred Plymouth Rock hens will give you blue or black pullets and barred or blue barred cockerels.
Blue Andalusian rooster over sapphire gem hen will give blue, black and splash chicks. Over sapphire splash you'll get blue or splash chicks.

With the barred rock hens yes you could call them black sex links and blue sex links.
Just stay away from the whole blue Plymouth Rock name.. The hatcheries should not be using it as they are because there is a blue variety of Plymouth Rocks but that's not what they're selling.

Moonshiner I'm wondering if you can help me… how does the sex link property work with this cross? Is it identified by a head spot? I've read so many different things saying different things… I know I will get 50/50 blue/black but will all males have a head spot regardless of color?

Yes males will have head spots and females will not.
The head spots don't always show as well on the blues as they do on the blacks.
Blues can vary on shade of blue so not as strong of a contrast on the lighter ones.
